| Abstract: |
In this talk, Dr. Wang will highlight translational biomedical informatics and
imaging research in her research group at BME of Georgia Tech & Emory Univ. Her
group has been researching and developing new algorithms and software systems
to analyze high throughput genomic, proteomic, and metaboliomic data for cancer
early detection, diagnosis, and drug discovery study. In addition, her group
has been integrating molecular imaging, 3-D medical imaging, and human digital
anatomy data for translational research and training. In 2003, Dr. Wang has
received Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Cancer Scholar award for her
work on translational cancer bioinformatics.

Dr. Wang is an alumni of CSIP. She received her Ph.D.EE in 2000 (Ph.D. Thesis
Advisor: Dr. Russell M. Mersereau) with a focus on multimedia processing and
modeling for communications. Besides academic training, Dr. Wang has worked as
a member of technical staff or a research summer intern in several industrial
R&D labs such as Agere Systems (Atlanta, GA, former Lucent Technologies Bell
Labs PTO/ME), Hughes Research Labs (Malibo, CA), Intel Architecture Labs
(Hillsboro, OR), and former AT&T Bell Labs (Murray Hill, NJ).
In 2002, Dr. Wang joined The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical
Engineering (BME) at Georgia Tech and Emory University as an assistant
professor. Dr. Wang has been focusing on "Bio-Multimedia" analysis, modeling,
and computing.
