Title: Labview and GUI Recording Capabilities
Abstract:
While most students turn to MATLAB for their signal processing needs; a powerful programming language well suited for matrix manipulation and high level text programming, few might have used LabVIEW or discovered LabVIEW's application to signal processing and its built-in graphical interface. LabVIEW is a graphical programming environment originally designed for signal acquisition and data analysis. It has evolved into an intricate tool for hardware interfacing, creating and modeling signals with virtual circuits, and processing data for useful information and expedient graphical presentation. This talk will give a brief introduction to LabVIEW's graphical programming language emphasizing its wire and block-box architecture. A number of possible applications to signal processing community will be illustrated and a presentation of an educational GUI will be given. In addition, the differences between MATLAB and LabVIEW will be explored and examples will be provided where one environment might be better suited then the other.
