Abstract:Entrepreneurship is becoming a "buzz" word at Georgia Tech, in the last two years; the Institute has allocated capital in strategic institutions that have enabled the creation of many entrepreneurial resources and centers; ATDC, VentureLabs, OTL and Speaker Series, are just a few of them. ITU Ventures is the premier venture capital firm serving the unique needs of technology businesses emerging from the nation's leading research universities. ITU Ventures represents an external source of capital for future Georgia Tech entrepreneurs.
Biography:Lorenzo is the founding Georgia Tech Campus Partner for ITU Ventures, a peer-to-peer, seed stage, California based, venture capital firm and business accelerator since October 2000. He sources technology venture deals, perform comprehensive due diligence and market potential in the field of optical and wireless telecommunications and semiconductors.


Lorenzo is currently at the Georgia Tech, Dupree College of Management. He will receive his MBA in 2002. Back in May 2000, Lorenzo graduated from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech where he studied a Masters with focus in wireless telecommunications and DSP. During is second year in graduate school, Lorenzo performed research in survival rerouting techniques and disaster recovery systems Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). Prior to Georgia, Lorenzo designed, developed and implemented a cutting edge monitoring system for the National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED) in Mexico City. In 1992, he was selected to join the High Academic Performance Program for the College of Engineering at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) where he graduated with honors by winning the Gabino Barreda medal for being number one in the class of '93 Electrical Engineering.                     
 

Lorenzo holds certificates in: Management of Technology from Georgia Tech, in Mexican Financial Systems and Technical Analyses. He has performed individual consulting for a Mexican stock exchange in their Financial Portal deployment. Lorenzo enjoys water sports, golf, soccer and tennis; he lives with his wife Martha and an 18-month son Lorenzo in Atlanta, Georgia.
